Australia’s newly formed opening pair of Phil Jacques and Simon Katich forged a great partnership at the top of the order which put the Australians firmly in control of the third test match against the West Indies.
After the match balance kept on shifting from one side to another on the first two days, the pair rested the initiative in their team’s favour with a 223 runs partnership for the first wicket. Both the players stroked fine centuries and while Jacques was finally out for 108, Simon Katich was still at the crease with a well made 148. Australia has thus swelled its lead to a mammoth 365 with 7 wickets still in hand.
