First gold for India at Beijing Olympics 2008

Abhinav Bindra won India’s first individual gold medal in men’s 10 metre air rifle event of the shooting competition at Beijing Olympics.
The gold medal is India’s first since 1980, when the hockey team emerged triumphant in Moscow.
Qinan Zhu of China scored 699.7 for second place while Finn Henri Hakkinen faltered on a final shot and finished third with a total of 699.4.
