Nadal through to next round

Wimbledon champion Rafael Nadal was tested in the first round of the Olympic men’s singles as Italy’s Potito Starace took him to three sets. The second seed needed a deciding third set to eventually beat the 71st-ranked Italian 6-2 3-6 6-2.
It was the fifth time Starace had played Nadal and the first time he had won a set against the Spaniard. Rain hampered tennis schedules on Sunday and now the courts will get busy from Monday.
