Anil Kumble has produced the best economy rate (1.57) amongst the bowlers with five wickets or more in an innings in Twenty20.
Kumble, during the course of his career best five for 5 (his first five-wicket haul in Twenty20) off 3.1 overs against Rajasthan Royals at Newlands, Cape Town on Saturday, has produced the best economy rate (1.57) amongst the bowlers with five wickets or more in an innings in Twenty20.
Kumble, with his aforesaid excellent performance, has become the first bowler to achieve an economy rate of less than 2.00 runs an over in the IPL, with a minimum of delivering twelve balls, bettering Kolkata Knight Riders’ Mohammad Hafeez’s economy rate of 2.00 - 4-0-8-1 against Deccan Chargers at Kolkata on April 20, 2008.
Kumble’s figures are now the second best in the IPL next only to the 6 for 14 by Sohail Tanvir for Rajasthan Royals against Chennai Super Kings at Jaipur on May 4, 2008. He is now the fourth bowler to take five wickets in an innings.
Apart from Kumble and Tanvir, Lakshmipathy Balaji and Amit Mishra are the other two to have captured five wickets in an innings.
