Mallya dreams of maiden point

Force India boss Vijay Mallya is desperately hoping to complete a dream weekend at the German Grand Prix.

For
the first time today since Mallya bought the team now in its 27th race
in its current guise, the Indian billionaire saw one of his cars reach
qualifying’s top-10 shootout.

Adrian Sutil will start a
career-high seventh on the grid, the 26-year-old’s feat all the more
remarkable in that he out-qualified the Ferraris of Felipe Massa and
Kimi Raikkonen with a slightly heavier car.

Mallya is now naturally hoping German Sutil can follow up tomorrow by delivering the team their first point in Formula One.

“Needless to say I am absolutely delighted with the team’s performance today,” beamed Mallya.

“We came to Germany hoping to get to Q2 and we got to Q3 thanks to a superb team performance and a stunning session from Adrian.

“To do so on his home soil will no doubt make it extra special for him.

“We are now in a good position for tomorrow’s race, and I hope we can finally get those much longed-for points.”

Sutil
described himself as “one of F1’s happiest guys today” in the wake of
his display, but knows the pressure will be on tomorrow.

He added: “It’s my home race and my best qualifying position so far in F1, so it was a great qualifying.

“I am very happy for everyone on the team. We’ve worked really hard in the last months. Now we just have to score some points.”
